Fix leads second practice of the day as cars prepare for qualifying

Kevin Poitras sets the pace for TA2, Berkeley leads TA3
SALISBURY, Conn. (Sept. 19, 2014) - In the second Trans Am Series practice of the day at Lime Rock Park, Paul Fix, in the No. 4 StopFlex.com Chevrolet Corvette, once again set the pace for the 33 car field, logging the fast lap of the session with 00:51.490— better than his 00:52.336 from the earlier session today.
It needed to be. A vast majority of the TA class front runners continued to improve their lap times in the second session, notably Amy Ruman, in the No. 23 McNichols Company Chevrolet Corvette, with a time of 00:51.952 and Simon Gregg, in the No. 59 Derhaag Motorsports Chevrolet Corvette, with a 00:52.070, with Ruman and Gregg holding second and third position for the practice session.
David Pintaric, in the No. 57 Kryderracing/ CarboTech/WRP Investments Chevrolet Corvette, improved his time to 00:52.738; and Cliff Ebben improved to a 00:52.790 behind the wheel of the No. 36 Stumpf Ford/McMahon Group Ford Mustang, with the fourth and fifth fastest times, respectively.
In TA2, Kevin Poitras, in the No. 73 Mike Cope Racing Chevrolet Camaro, led the 15 car class with a time of 00:54.520, edging out the likes of Adam Andretti, in the No. 44 Engineered Components Chevrolet Camaro, Tommy Archer, in the No. 11 Dodge Challenger SRT, Cameron Lawrence, in the No. 1 Miller Racing Dodge Challenger, and Bob Stretch, in the No. 98 Fix Rim Mobile Wheel Repair Chevrolet Camaro—all of whom constituted the top five with times of 00:54.598, 00:54.844, 00:54.871, and 00:55.604.
TA3 was led by Jason Berkeley, in the No. 67 BMG Management Chevrolet Corvette, with a time of 00:57.527, and also lead the International Group within the production based class. Meanwhile, Ernie Francis, Jr., led the American Muscle Group within TA3 behind the wheel of the No. 9 Breathless Performance Chevrolet Camaro with a time of 00:57.727.
Trans Am will return to the track at Lime Rock Park at 5:10 p.m. EDT for qualifying to determine the starting order for the 100-mile, 67 lap Trans Am race tomorrow, Saturday, September 20 at 2:00 p.m.
