Tom Sheehan Revs Up for TA2 SpeedTour at Barber Motorsports Park

Leeds, ALABAMA – October 15, 2025 – Trans Am Series stalwart Tom Sheehan - the pilot with more Trans Am TA2 series starts than any other driver - is behind the wheel of the No. 97 Damon Racing Vixen Cycle / LTK Insulation Technologies Mustang for the CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series race, presented by Pirelli, at Barber Motorsports Park. An event slated on the calendar for October 17-19, 2025.
The 2.38-mile, 17-turn circuit in Birmingham, Alabama, promises a high-octane spectacle, with Sheehan poised to navigate its rollercoaster layout in pursuit of a podium in the fiercely competitive TA2 Pro Am Challenge. Fans can catch every heart-pounding moment of the TA2 race live on SPEED SPORT 1 and the Trans-Am Series YouTube channel on Sunday, October 19, at 2:50 p.m. ET.
Barber Motorsports Park, a sprawling 880-acre motorsport haven, is a driver’s paradise, blending technical precision with breathtaking beauty. Designed by Alan Wilson and opened in 2003, its 2.38-mile asphalt ribbon twists through elevation changes exceeding 190 feet, delivering a relentless sequence of sweeping esses, tight hairpins, and blind crests that challenge even the most seasoned racers. Unlike typical circuits, Barber’s flowing design rewards rhythm and finesse, with Turn 5’s carousel and the plunging descent into Turn 8 demanding split-second precision. Set against Alabama’s lush woodlands and vibrant wildflower meadows, the track offers spectators unobstructed views from natural hillsides, immersing them in the action without traditional grandstands. The 230,000-square-foot Barber Vintage Motorsport Museum, housing over 1,000 rare vehicles, adds a layer of historic grandeur, making this weekend—coinciding with the Barber SpeedTour and Vintage Festival—a celebration of motorsport’s past and present.
Sheehan’s weekend kicks off with team load-in on Thursday, October 16, at 5:30 p.m. in Lot G, followed by TA2 pre-tech inspections on Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The No. 97 Mustang hits the track for Practice 1 on Friday at 12:20 p.m. and a track walk at 5:45 p.m. Saturday brings Practice 2 at 8:55 a.m., followed by qualifying split into two groups: Group 1 at 1:25 p.m. and Group 2 at 1:45 p.m., where Sheehan will battle for grid position. Fans can meet Sheehan during the TA2 Drivers Autograph Session at 3:00 p.m. at the SpeedTour Sim Trailer.
On race day, Sunday, October 19, the TA2 field grids at 1:00 p.m., with a fan walk and pre-race ceremonies at 1:20 p.m. Cars depart pit lane at 1:49 p.m. for two pace laps, leading into the 42-lap or 75-minute race starting at 1:50 p.m., broadcast live on SPEED SPORT 1 and YouTube.
