Trans Am Heads to ‘Bama as Ruman Looks for Redemption at Barber Motorsports Park

Munroe Falls, Ohio – The Trans Am Series Presented by Pirelli is heading to Barber Motorsports Park, Leeds, AL for the first time in the history of the series as part of the 2025 SpeedTour.
VIR Recap: Ruman and team are looking for redemption after the outing at VIRgina International Raceway (VIR) last month. Ruman qualified the No. 23 McNichols Co./Valley Automotive Group Chevrolet Corvette in 5th and was running strong in third place when she was hit in the left rear corner and spun around by the No. 7 of Tomy Drissi. She continued after the altercation but ultimately the door flew off and forced her to pit lane, ending her day early.
“Really disappointing and unfortunate for us not to be standing on the podium,” stated Ruman. “The team gave me a great car today and we deserved to be in the top three, this seriously impacted me in the points standings.” Drissi received two post-race penalties totaling 54 seconds for avoidable contact with Ruman and in separate incident with Andretti. After the penalties, Drissi dropped to fourth place from third, Andretti was promoted to third, however it was not enough for Ruman to move up in the finishing order landing her fifth in TA.
Barber Preview: Opened in 2003, Barber has hosted the likes of IndyCar, Pirelli World Challenge, Vintage Racing Series, and AMA SuperBike events. Trans Am drivers will take on the compact 17-turn, 2.38-mile technical road course featuring several elevation changes. The facility includes the Barber Vintage Motorsport Museum and is noted for its impeccable landscaping and greenery.
“The track looks very interesting and challenging, I’m excited to run here. It looks a bit tight and tricky for the TA cars so passing will probably be tough. We are down to the final two rounds and I’m looking to finish the season on a high note,” expressed Ruman.
Forty-five competitors are entered across all classes for the weekend, with seven running in Ruman’s TA class. Two practices and qualifying will take place Friday and Saturday with both races being held on Sunday October 19th. The Trans Am TA/XGT/SGT/GT feature will be at 9:45am, and the CUBE 3 Architecture TA2® Series race will be at 1:50pm – both races are 42-laps (or 75 min) – all times listed are CT. Heading into Round 11, Paul Menard leads the TA National class championship with 981 points, followed by Adam Andretti in second – 935, Tomy Drissi in third – 875, Chris Dyson is fourth – 865, and Amy Ruman sits in fifth – with 845 points.
