Abbate Awarded at 2020 Trans Am Honors Ceremony

(Las Vegas, NV) - The Trans Am series experienced many firsts in the 2020 season and so did the Grr Racing Team. Alongside in these firsts was the series very own Virtual Awards Ceremony to celebrate those that rose above the rest in several different categories, including several fan favorite votes!
The Grr Racing team made massive improvements over their 5th place finish overall for the West Coast Championship Series in their debut year in TA2 in the Trans Am series from 2019.
An astounding achievement of a top 5 finish in every race earned them 2nd place in the Championship, just 3 point behind the leader - with the final round being canceled due to COVID. Michele also made history as the first female to ever stand on the TA2 podium in the history of Trans Am. In addition, she was nominated for two of the 5 categories of the Trans Am Fan Favorite Awards, Favorite Helmet Design and the very first Trans Am Fan Favorite Driver.
With over 27,000 votes Abbate captured 27% of them all and walked away with the win in both Fan Favorite categories proving her value in the series.
"This was a big one for us! What an honor to be nominated in the first Trans Am Fan Favorite vote and to have such amazing support from my friends, family, and fans! I am so grateful for their continued support and hope it translates to more racing into the 2021 season!" Michele said with a huge smile.
As Trans Am quoted, her "social media army" has definitely proven to be a force to be reckoned with!
"Honestly I would 1000% not be where I am today without the support from so many people - its unexplainable how many people take the time to encourage and support my racing efforts and I am beyond grateful", she humbly shares.
Abbate is working towards her dream of racing full time in the National Tour series and hoping her accolades within the series will help gain the funding necessary to make it happen. "We are in this with all we have and she has the talent to run with the best; I know we will get there with the right partnerships", Crew Chief and husband Anthony Philleo shares.
