Andretti, Robinson and Napoleon are the Latest Trans Am Winners for Howe
June 17, 2015
(Partner Release) - By winning the MPT Twelve Lubricant & Penetrate 100 on June at New Jersey Motorsports Park, Adam Andretti has become the first driver to win a Trans Am 2 event with a Howe built Ford Mustang. Andretti's win came after qualifying on the pole in three consecutive events. In the previous season Adam had won multiple events in a Howe ECC prepared Camaro but this is the team's first with their new 2015 Howe Mustang. The first Trans Am wins for a Howe built TA2 Camaro came in 2011 with Gregg Rodgers and the first with a Dodge Challenger came in 2014 with Cameron Lawrence.
Following the previous Trans Am event at Lime Rock Gar Robinson was awarded the Howe Long Haul Award for the 1,912 miles from San Antonio, Texas to Lakeville, Connecticut. The 20 year old Robinson continued a solid 2015 season with a second place finish at New Jersey. Robinson has finished in the top 10 in four out of five of the events in 2015. Andretti and Robinson shared the podium with third place Robinson Racing teammate Shane Lewis. Lewis was P1 in the final practice session on Saturday prior to his strongest showing of the season in his Howe built Robinson Racing prepared Camaro on Sunday.
In all, 8 of the top 10 and 14 of the top 16 cars at New Jersey were Howe chassis. Among those were the distinctive white Camaros of Justin and Joe Napoleon. The father and son team are the first co-winners of the Howe Long Haul Award. This comes as the result of both drivers residing in Magnolia, Texas. The Lone Star town of Magnolia requires a 1,598 mile drive to the east to arrive at Millville, NJ.
These Long Haul awards are the fourth and fifth of twelve $850 product awards that Howe will issue this season. The next award winner will follow the July 5th event at Brainerd, Minnesota.
