Andretti ready to build on success
May 21, 2014
(Team Release) Up to now the 2014 Trans Am season has been one of steady upward momentum thru the first three races for Adam Andretti. He and his ECC team qualified on the front row for the first two races in Florida. While the first race was marred by a transmission failure, Andretti finished a strong second in race #2 at Homestead,
At Road Atlanta for race #3, they stepped it up to win the pole and then the race. For race #4 at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park there was still room for growth.
Andretti did place his #44 Camaro on the pole for the second straight race and then in the race he locked down the rest of the available bonus points by leading the most laps. Unfortunately a wonky fuel pick up left his car starving for fuel in the final laps where he had to settle for a 3rd place finish. That left a somewhat unfulfilled feeling.
"I think all of us at ECC Motorsports are disappointed with our results. Only because we truly had a dominant Anchor Bolt and Screw Camaro all weekend until we suffered a fuel pick up issue late in the race," Andretti said.
"At this point we have to keep focusing as a team like we are on maximizing our results in the upcoming rounds. Not dwelling on the past. Just learning from it."
Championship racing is about the points. Andretti is reaching for that max points potential. Win the pole and those bonus points and then get to the lead in the race and get the last bonus points for leading the most laps. "One of the many great perks of the Trans Am Series is that you are rewarded nicely with points for leading laps.", said Andretti. "We obviously want to try and claim as many of those as we can when we can."
This was the first time Andretti has race at Canadian Tire Motorsports park. He certainly took to it quickly and clearly enjoyed the action. "The race was fairly uneventful except for the restarts. They got a bit crazy at times and for sure put on a great show for the fans."
With a 3rd place finish at CTMP, Andretti and the #44 team have three straight podiums and two straight pole wins. He stands 3rd in points in the 2014 TA2 Championship standings. He is just nine points behind Ron Keith for 2nd place.
Andretti and ECC Motorsports race next in Trans Am on June 1 at New Jersey Motorsports Park for round 5 of the 2014 Trans Am Series Championship.
