C7 Corvette set for Trans Am debut

SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA (July 31, 2014) -- The newest rendition of one of America’s most iconic models, the Chevrolet Corvette, is set for its debut in Trans Am, America’s Road Racing Series, as the C7 Stingray will take to the track under the Derhaag Motorsports banner in the TA class.

The No. 59 Derhaag Motorsports Chevrolet Corvette, piloted by 2012 Trans Am Champion Simon Gregg, will usher in the next generation of the TA bodywork at The 3-Dimensional Services Next Dimension 100, Round Seven of the 2014 Trans Am Championship, at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Saturday, August 16.

The body, designed and built by Derhaag Motorsports, a Championship winning program and long-time entry in Trans Am, with assistance from Nowicki Autosport and Chevrolet, represents the next generation of bodies in the TA class.

“We wanted to make a body that truly encompassed the spirit and design of the 2014 Corvette Stingray,” said Jim Derhaag, owner of Derhaag Motorsports. “When we began this project it was imperative in my mind that we did this the right way, no short cuts, no easy ways out. The body had to be the culmination of everything Corvette, fitted for the TA platform. The result is a future Trans Am icon —something we’re very proud of and a product representative of the quality expected from the Derhaag Motorsports name. It is the future of the TA class and the future of Trans Am.”

Derhaag Motorsports is making the body available for purchase effective immediately, with bodies ready to ship.
