COPE Race Cars Leads Chassis Count at Sebring
February 19, 2024
Cope Race Cars, Cope Chassis makes up 50% of the Trans Am TA2 field for the season opener
Sebring, FL (February 19, 2024)— COPE Race Cars and the COPE Chassis made its official debut as an approved chassis builder to the Trans Am presented by Pirelli CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series in 2012; however, did you know that Mike Cope Racing had a COPE Chassis at the first ever Trans Am TA2 race at Road Atlanta in 2010? Since then, the popularity of the chassis has consistently grown from a hand full of cars in the field to where we are today. COPE Race Cars opens the TA2 season at Sebring with 20 cars in the 40-car field.
“Over the past 14 years COPE Race Cars and Trans Am have grown together,” explains Mike Cope, Owner/ CEO of Mike Cope Racing and COPE Race Cars. “Our customers are the main reason for this growth. I personally can’t take any credit. The credit goes to my family and team in the shop. They are the innovators that make COPE Race Cars a success. It’s all about the people and our people are passionate about what they do.”
In the beginning, you could only find COPE Race Cars under the Mike Cope Racing tent, but over the years the popularity has spread across the Paddock. Notably, our largest support comes from Nick Tucker and the Nitro Motorsports team. Nitro brings 8 COPE TA2 cars to Sebring including defending TA2 series champion, Brent Crews.
CB Motorsports fields a three-car team with Caleb Bacon and rookie Jared Odrick taking the driver seats at Sebring. CB Motorsports purchased their original car from Mike Cope Racing- and completed their team with the purchase of the 2023 Showtime Motorsports Cope Chassis’. This team also provides an Arrive and Drive Program allowing for up to three cars per event.
Troy Benner and TRB Autosport will support Justin Elder in the #19 COPE Chassis Chevrolet Camaro. TRB has supported COPE Race Cars over the years with the purchase of several COPE Chassis.
Privateers are not to be overlooked with Bruce Raymond, Matt Gray, Luke Rumburg, and Parker Delong all supporting COPE Race Cars, COPE Chassis at Sebring. Notable mentions that are not in attendance at Sebring International Raceway this weekend are Elias Anderson, Patrick Utt, Bryan Kerrick and Gian Buffomante to name a few. Gian, the son of TA2 Champion Tony Buffomante took home P2 at NOLA over the weekend in the SCCA Super Tour GT2 class.
Mike Cope Racing is available at all TA2 events for trackside support. As a COPE chassis owner, you are part of the family with unlimited access to knowledge, assistance, and support during race weekends. We have an open book policy at MCR and want our chassis owners to be able to come to us at any time to ensure that they are seeing the true value in their COPE experience.
We are in this business to build champions and have a lot of fun along the way.
The season opener for the Trans Am presented by Pirelli CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 series is February 23rd to the 24th at Sebring International Raceway in Sebring, FL.
