 Dynojet partnership proves mutually beneficial

As the Trans Am Series continues to grow, The Trans Am Race Company has expressed its ongoing commitment to not only ensuring parity amongst the competitors but also developing a more thorough understanding of the platforms within Trans Am.

“We are firm in our belief that in Kirk Ready and Rick Bahr we have an incredibly experienced and talented technical team,” said John Clagett, President of The Trans Am Race Company. “At the same time, it is our responsibility to provide them with the tools and data to do their jobs to the best of their abilities. That’s where our partnership with Dynojet comes in.”

Trans Am enlisted the assistance of Dynojet to provide at-track diagnostic services through their world-class dynamometers, primarily with a focus on the TA3 class—which has shown rapid growth over the course of the season.

“Thanks to our partnership with Dynojet we now have detailed information for both the TA3 International and American Muscle Groups,” said Kirk Ready, Technical Director for Trans Am. “The American Muscle Group’s reported horsepower was where we expected it to be, there was not any major variance—which fortunately means we have a level playing field throughout the class. In the International Group we now have a much better understanding of the range of horsepower within the class, something we can regulate going forward.”

“We’re proud to be involved in Trans Am’s commitment to growing the TA3 class,” said Will Fong, Sales and Marketing Manager of Dynojet. “TA3 is a great showcase of production power and racing—one that we are pleased to be supporting and helping grow. At the same time, we’re able to showcase our abilities in a demanding environment on true performance machines.”

An ongoing part of Dynojet’s partnership with Trans Am is the chase for the Dynojet TA3 Rookie of the Year honors, a year-end award given to the top performing rookies in each of the TA3 class’s subgroups.

Currently Ernie Francis, Jr., driver of the No. 9 Breathless Performance Chevrolet Camaro, leads Todd Napieralski, driver of the No. 39 Tremec/ SKF/ Backstreet Performance/ Chevrolet Performance Chevrolet Camaro, by 30 points in the American Muscle Group with five races remaining.

Meanwhile, in the International Group, Russ Snow, driver of the No. 20 Carbotech Chevrolet Corvette, leads the way with a 25 point lead over Norm Betts, in the No. 82 Hoosier/ VP Fuels Chevrolet Corvette, and a 27 point lead over Jason Berkeley, who runs the No. 67 BMG Management Chevrolet Corvette.

Dynojet:
Established in 1972, Dynojet is a Research & Development company, employing over 100 people in Montana, Nevada, Holland, Germany and England. Dynojet Research develops after-market performance products and diagnostic tools for the Motorcycle and Automotive industries. Dynojet's extensive product development testing required the use of a dynamometer. Unable to find a dynamometer to meet the needs of its Research & Development staff, Dynojet went to the drawing boards and pioneered the first single roller, inertia, chassis dynamometer for motorcycles in 1989. Shortly thereafter, Dynojet developed the Model 248 automotive dynamometer, which became an instant fixture in every performance shop. Dynojet continues to develop more models, with features such as eddy current load control, all-wheel drive, and more. Visit www.dynojet.com.
