Lyn St. James: An Incredible Journey book signing to be held in advance of event
DETROIT, Mich. [JUNE 1, 2016] – Motorsports icon Lyn St. James is set to join the expanding list of speakers at the Trans Am Series’ 50th Anniversary Celebration Dinner at the Edison Institute on Thursday, June 2, 2016.
St. James will accompany a multitude of names from Trans Am’s past as she recounts her story as a pioneer in autosport and her time in the Trans Am Series in 1983 and from 1988 to 1990 where she had 53 starts and seven top five’s. Joining St. James for the evening will be Jack Roush, Walt Czarnecki, Mike Miller, Pete Halsmer and a multitude of modern drivers, as well as the event’s host Tommy Kendall; as they offer an in-depth look at the 50-year history of the Trans Am Series in advance of the series’ much anticipated return to the Chevrolet Belle Isle Detroit Grand Prix for the Motor City 100, presented by 3-Dimensional Services Group.
“I learned so much in the Trans Am Series, especially the art of qualifying because of the intensity and short qualifying sessions,” said St. James. “ It was incredibly competitive with the OEM support and some of the best drivers, many who ultimately moved into other types of professional racing. I’m excited to see it with full fields and gaining popularity.”
In addition to lending her voice to a Trans Am discussion, St. James will also be holding a signing of her book Lyn St. James: An Incredible Journey, a behind the scenes look at the story of a quiet girl from Ohio as she made her way through the echelons of motorsport to Trans Am, the Indianapolis 500, the 12 Hours of Sebring and 24 Hours of Le Mans. The work not only traces St. James own journey but imparts motivational lessons learned throughout a career that was anything but straightforward.
The book signing will be held during the 50th Anniversary Celebration Dinner cocktail reception from 6:30 PM ET to 7:15 PM ET. Copies of Lyn St. James: An Incredible Journey will be available for $20, cash or check.
