Majority of Trans Am paddock remains off course as rain persists

Once again rain dampened spirits and the track at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, with only six cars participating in the second practice session of this weekend’s event, Round 4 of the 2014 Trans Am Championship, part of the Castrol Victoria Day Weekend Speedfest.

The drivers were led by Bob Stretch, in the #98 FixRim Mobile Wheel Repair Chevrolet Camaro, who logged the fast lap of the very wet session with a 1:38.271. Stretch was followed closely by TA2 Champion Cameron Lawrence, in the #1 Trick Titanium Chevrolet Camaro, with a time of 1:38.568—setting up an intriguing matchup between two drivers who hold the past three TA2 Championships.

Stretch’s teammate, and fellow TA2 competitor, Tom Sheehan, in the #97 FixRim Mobile Wheel Repair Camaro, followed with a time of 1:45.972.

Allan Lewis, in the #15 BC Race Cars Chevrolet Corvette, was the sole participant from the TA class, with a time of 1:42.285, while TA3 rookies Fernando Seferlis and Norman Betts represented their respective groups, American Muscle and International, with times of 2:58.636 and 2:09.601.

Trans Am will return to the track here at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park this afternoon at 2:40 p.m. EDT for qualifying in preparation for tomorrow, May 17, when the 100 Mile Trans Am Race takes place.
