Mid-Ohio Mindset
New York – F.A.S.T. Auto Racing Team Owner Adrian Wlostowski heads to this weekend’s round of The Trans Am presented by Pirelli at Mid-Ohio with high hopes and mixed emotions. Despite his lack of experience in a TA2 car at the famed Midwestern facility, Wlostowski knows his No. 3, Hawk Performance, Howe Racing Enterprise, Camaro gets better every race.
"Last year we raced in our SGT Mustang in the rain and finished second. But coming in I don’t have any time in our TA2 car at Mid-Ohio and almost no time in the dry so facing a bit of a learning curve to get up to speed,” he said. “On the other hand, we are getting better making quick adjustments and improving the car with each session."
Mixed conditions return for the second race in a row, with the Weather Channel predicting scattered thunderstorms throughout the three-day event.
“It is what it is,” Wlostowski continued, “The weather looks to be like Lime Rock, so sessions could be in mixed conditions making things difficult at a track I don’t know that well. Every race this year has presented new challenges for my team and I. However, with the knowledge and data we are gaining, I feel like we are going into each race with more in our arsenal. Being on top of your game both behind the wheel and in car setup, is absolutely critical in TA2 and we’re getting there.”
The entire team continues to keep Mark Petronis in their prayers as he continues to be hospitalized due to injuries sustained in a brutal accident at New Jersey Motorsport Park some three weeks ago.
"Our prayers are with Mark and his family,” Wlostowski said. “We continue each day with Mark in our thoughts. We cannot wait for the day he is able to be back on his feet and be home with his family. All of our team cars will continue to run the AMT Motorsports logos in his honor.
This weekend’s Speed Tour will also feature an amazing group of vintage race cars with SVRA, Wlostowski added. “There will be something for every car lover in the family with SVRA, F3 and F4 championship rounds and the Hagerty Car Show. Tony Parilla and his team have done a fantastic job developing the Speed Tour and I’m sure we will have big crowds all weekend.”
If you can’t be there in person you can catch all of the Trans Am action on the Trans Am app.
