Sheehan Aiming to Build on Top Ten Status at Mid Ohio

Bow, NEW HAMPSHIRE - June 22, 2021 - The 2021 Trans Am presented by Pirelli Championship season gets busy over the next couple of weeks with Round 5 at Mid Ohio Sportscar Course June 25 - 27 swiftly followed by Round 6 at Road America the following weekend. In the TA2 Class, surely the most hotly contested of the five divisions currently racing in Trans Am, New Hampshire's Tom Sheehan currently sits in P8 out of 32 drivers in the No. 97 LTK Insulation Technologies Damon Racing Ford Mustang, a standing that puts him in the top quartile of competitors after four races with 52 Championship points.
Tom is just three points behind Frank Futrelle and Scott Borchetta who occupy positions 7 and 6 respectively and five points behind Keith Prociuk in P5. At a course where Tom scored his joint best finish in 2020, he is optimistic about gaining ground on his rivals after an improved showing at Lime Rock the last day.
"Damon Racing has a big three race swing starting with Mid Ohio," stated Tom Sheehan. "We are always looking forward to getting back to Mid Ohio, great fans and great history. Madness, thunder valley, iconic racing, middle-America, farming, in the midst of diverse Amish and Mennonite communities. I am going to enjoy everything. Good stuff!"
The Mid Ohio Sportscar Course is one of the most popular tracks on the Trans Am roster and is a fixture in the calendar. Located seven miles outside the town of Belville, and covering over 330 acres, Mid Ohio Sportscar Course is a perennially popular weekend venue and has Motorhome/RV spaces throughout the facility and a campground available for tent camping. It's picturesque setting nevertheless belies the challenging nature of the circuit. The Trans Am weekend at Mid-Ohio shares billing with the SVRA who are staging the Vintage Grand Prix at what is one of the bumper weekends of the year at the track.
Tom's first sight of the track is for testing at 4:15 p.m. this Thursday with practice at 11:45 a.m. on Friday. Tom will be qualifying the yellow Mustang that bears the LTK livery at 5:40 p.m. on Saturday afternoon while the race itself, over 45 laps of the circuit, is at 1:05 p.m. on Saturday. It's a very full program at Mid Ohio with Trans Am sharing top billing with the Vintage Grand Prix. Tickets and hospitality packages are available as the nation slowly returns to normality.
