Special Awards for Howe Drivers at Road America
September 10, 2015
PARTNER RELEASE - Three different drivers from the sunny south collected special awards in foggy Northern Wisconsin. A second straight podium finish was not the only bright spot for Cameron Lawrence on a misty Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin morning. The two time defending TA2 Champion also collected the $850 Howe Long Haul Contingency Award. The 1,294 miles from his home town of Windermere, Florida qualified Cameron to be the eighth different recipient of the Howe Contingency Award. The Howe Long Haul Award winners are determined by the travel distance from each driver's home town to the track address. Each driver may only receive the award once per season.
In only the second event for his new 2015 Howe Dodge Challenger Lawrence also lead much of the race after claiming the pole for the event by posting a 2:14:612 in Fast Five qualifying. His time was later bested by Tommy Archer in his 2015 Howe Camaro in the second round of qualifying with a 2:14:423.
Jupiter, Florida's Shane Lewis was the other recipient of a special award at Road America. Shane drove the Robinson Racing Howe Camaro to consistent top finishes at Lime Rock Park, Mid-Ohio and Road America to claim the 3-Dimensional Services Triple Shot Showdown for the TA2 class. The award was created to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Trans Am series. The 3-Dimensional Services trophies were awarded to the driver in each class who scored the most points in events at these three iconic venues.
Even though Tony Ave's first place finish at Elkhart Lake was his second in the TA2 class it also came with some special merits worthy of mention. Although the Trans Am veteran has many prior wins under his belt in other classes, by winning with a Howe Mustang Ave has become the first driver to win TA2 events in two different brands of chassis and the first to win with both carbureted and fuel injected Ford Engines.
Howe Racing Enterprises was founded in 1971 and has been involved in the TA2 class since its inception in 2011. Howe produces a wide variety of specialized racing components in addition to partial and complete cars for asphalt racing worldwide.
