Trans Am practice at COTA limited in wet weather.
November 3, 2016
AUSTIN, Texas. [November 3, 2016] – The first two practice sessions of Round 11 of the 2016 Trans Am Championship at Circuit of The Americas were all but rained out with constant downpours hitting the Austin area in the afternoon.
With several SVRA sessions scheduled in advance of Trans Am, all of which were delayed, the event schedule became backlogged. While SVRA sessions were canceled, Trans Am did provide an opportunity for drivers willing to tackle the soggy conditions and the 20-turn, 3.427-mile track. The single taker was Kerry Hitt, in the No. 19 Advanced Composite Products Cadillac CTS-V, his best lap was a 2:45.875.
Given the lack of practice Trans Am will hold a brief hardship session at 7:55 AM CDT tomorrow morning, allowing all interested drivers to take a single lap.
